Our new Net Zero Energy Home is now under way. First things first. What is a Net
Zero Energy Home? It's the type of home that will produce as much energy as it uses.
How is this done? You start with the shell of the home.... then make it as energy
efficient as possible. One of the major components is the wall itself. We chose Structural
Insulated Panels (S.I.P.) which have an R-value of 40. Our roof R-value will be 60.
Combine the above with passive and active solar energy techniques and Voilà... Like
magic! You now have a Net Zero Energy Home.
